Team Bio

[Chapter 1: The Frisbyterians - Faithful Frisbee Family Friends] (2011-2013)

100 years before Christopher Columbus discovered America, The Frisbyterians were being groomed by legendary explorer and Viking, Frisbee golf enthusiast, Leif Erikson. Years of excruciating physical and emotional conditioning (like what the Navy seals go through, but harder) has given birth to a force that no other amateur, co-ed, non-Olympic sport team dare oppose. Absolute precision, reckless abandonment, no friggin' prisoners!! Chairy Hest, Leif's not-so-secret burly-man lover and partner in victory, aided in creating this dynamic legacy.

In the meantime, Leif's great great-great grand-daughter Molly Norris was completely taken by surprise when she became the mother of a baby boy Chuck who delivered himself by the side of the highway. When little Chuck reached 18, he learned of his great great great great grandfather's Frisbee golf heritage and tried to follow in his footsteps by joining up with the then well-established group of Frisbyterians. Chuck was overcome by their skill and sheer fierceness and was unable to join their ranks. He devoted the rest of this life to over coming his weakness.

In 1826 in Indiana a 17 year old Abe Lincoln, still reeling over the death of his mother, and determined to make a name for himself, discovered a group of men and women who had an unusual bond. He was impressed by their strength and vigor and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. He quickly learned the source of their strength and friendship, which was none other than Ultimate Frisbee. He had never even touched a frisbee disc, but within 2 weeks learned the game and became the best player on the team. They won 8 games in a row against various opponents under Lincoln's superior guidance, and then was elected their leader.

[Chapter 2: Off With Their Discs: The Beginning of the Epicness] (2010)

Lincoln's son Tad took over the group when Lincoln entered the political arena, as he was as tough as his father, and just as skilled with the disc. Tad was only 15 when joining the group. Many of the group's members were concerned that the name Frisbyterians was no longer an appropriate name, and assigned Tad the responsibility of choosing a new one. He was obsessed with Lewis Caroll's new book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and loved the power of the Red Queen. He dubbed the group "Off With Their Discs." The group was empowered to win every game they played for the rest of the 19th century.

In 2011 Off With Their Discs' current members were reading about the history of the game and had no idea about their heritage. They learned about Leif Erikson, Chuck Norris, Abe Lincoln, Chairy Hest, and even golden child Michael Adams, Jr. nicknamed "GLOVES", who was rumored to have taken steroids due to his massive calves. Wanting to return to their roots, Off With Their Discs re dubbed themselves The Frisbyterians. Their subsequent games were played so expertly that none of them lasted more than 10 minutes.

[Chapter 3: Anemones - The Birth of Death] (2014)

Under The Cult of Frisbyterianism, the games were so intense and brutal that many of the faithful lost their way, sending their leader into a spiral of shame, rage, and self-doubt. On a particularly cold Wisconsin August afternoon he climbed to the top of The Memorial Terrace and in an act of desperation, flung himself into the lake below. Once he hit the bottom, his body was jolted back to the surface thanks to a most peculiar and potentially dangerous creature from the ocean - The Sea Anemone.

Typically poisonous, this lake-dwelling Anemone injected its victim with its paralyzing neurotoxin; but due to his battle-hardened skin it merely jolted him to shoot up to the surface with newfound strength and resolve to carry on. Thanks to the chance encounter with this creature, he reached out to his fellow disc-folk to emerge as the awesome force that was The Anemones.

This fine team had its ups and downs, but never left the field without engaging in their Anemone chant, which consisted of mostly barbarian yells and much arm-flopping to simulate the flowing tentacles of the Anemone. Sadly, the same fate was had of this team as they played so intensely that some were broken down from their own ferocity.

[Chapter 4: Anemones Reloaded - The Reemergent] (2015)

Inspired by his previous experience, and several re-watchings of Finding Nemo, the team’s leader took everyone back out to the lake for an encounter with the Anemone. With a team full of super Anemone-power, they re-emerged the following season as “Anemones Reloaded” and took no prisoners on the field during any game. Other teams feared them as they began to be known for their super-hero like abilities and lightning fast game-play.

The team had such success, and were so connected, that they kept playing each other even though no other team was left for them to defeat. They played long into the brutal Wisconsin winter, and eventually, during one particularly bad cold-spell, the entire team was frozen solid mid-game. The cold did not bother them until it turned them into statues and they were forced to stop.

[Chapter 5: Northern Exposure - The Year They Made Contact] (2016-Present)

There they stood, becoming one with the winter landscape until the spring thaw re-animated the entire bunch. The team was slow at first, upon re-animation, and called upon their leaders to guide them and figure out what they should do next. While re-grouping from a natural cryo-sleep, they began to throw a frisbee around and noticed they threw faster and farther than ever before. A scientist among them hypothesized it was due to the crystallization of their muscles while they were frozen solid.

Thrilled by these enhanced skills, the team harnessed their nature-given new powers and dubbed themselves “Northern Exposure”. Even the hottest day of the Wisconsin summer will not stop them, especially since they now harness the power to create snow and ice at-will. Once they have a disc in play, they simply will not let it go....
